Prof Dionisios Chionis

Prof. Dionysios Chionis is currently with Department of Economics, Democritus University of Thrace. Has studied at the Department of Economics National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (B.A), M.Sc. in Int. Banking and Finance with Herriot-Watt  Edinburgh University, M.Sc. in Econ. University of Glasgow and he received his Ph. D. in Econ. By  Un. of  Strathclyde.  Has served as a Dean of the Department and Head of the School of Social, Economics and Political science at Democritus University of Thrace. Previously involved in the public administration as a member of the board of public entities and  holding various managerial  positions. Has also served as an expert in the European Commission. He participates as a coordinator of the scientific committee of the Economic Chambers of Greece and member of the Board of Greek Exporters Association.  Member of Evaluation and Certification Council of Hellenic Authority for Higher Education. Recently, served as expert  by the  Economic and Social Committee  of EU.
Author of books and publications in referred journals in the area of economics and financial economics.
Participant in research programmes and European research networks such as:  Promoting Financial Awareness and Stability, European Commission, Horizon 2014-2020, ‘Evaluation of the Implemented Regional Policy in Greece after it’s Inclusion in the E.U. ’European Cohesion Policy Fund, ‘Early warning indicators for the Banking Sector’  Thales, Bank of Greece, ‘Assessing the growth effects of internet’s upgrading. The case of  Greek economy sponsored by the Hellenic  ministry of the digital policy’’, “Coastal urban development through the lenses of resiliency”, Horizon 2020.   
His research interest focus on  International Economics, monetary and debt crisis, open economy models, financial markets, monetary policy, foreign exchange policy, bonds market. Across to this framework his research has been  published by referred  journals among them  Journal of Policy Modelling, International Review of Applied Economics, Journal of Financial Research Letters,  Journal of Financial Stability, has also participated in economic conferences.  Professor Chionis is a prolific writer and a regular participant in academic and policy debates by publishing economic articles, position papers  and ideas  in more widely accessible forums and journals.
